I was enrolled to a neighbouring village school when I was five years old. The schoolteacher was quite understanding of my situation. On the day of my admittance, my father handed out sweets. This episode has remained a vivid recollection in my mind to this day. Our school has a temple adjacent to it. When we used to return to our residences, we would usually stand for a bit. It happened on Tuesday. We were a little late because the priest kept us to give ‘Laddoos.’ In the meanwhile, I saw my father was agitated. He picked me up and slapped me across the face. I told myself that I would never remain after school. When I hear about a school, this incidence resurfaces.
